The Concept A deliberate departure from literal figurative representation, treating the portrait bust as an exercise in psychological subtraction. Inspired by the philosophy that traditional volume often obscures the true nature of a subject, the mass of the head is compressed down to a narrow, razor-thin ridge. By stripping away the superficial layers of physical anatomy, the sculpture forces two distinct profiles to converge into a single, blade-like essence.
The Tension The resulting form creates a distorted geometry that preserves the unmistakable identity of the model while exposing his raw internal presence. Currently held in a vulnerable state of deeply textured, cracked clay, the upcoming transition to metal will lock these fleeting, fragile lines of human expression into an enduring monument.
